Thank you all for taking the time to come and quilt with me.

I am SEW excited to show you all our next block!

ree

Below is all the information you need to prepare before joining

I will be using the Day Trip Linen Texture Bundle + 2 yards A-9057-L2

in all my pictures to show you the step by step.

There will be 2 size options for cutting - 6" block and 9" block finish.

Assembly directions are very similar for both sizes,

so please cut your fabric according to the size that you choose and then follow basic instructions.

Every week, I will showcase multiple color options for the fun and simple blocks.

You can use those color options as inspiration for placement of your fabrics.

ree

For Block 2, you will need:

(These notions are just my recommendations)

• Fabrics (6 medium/dark)

• Aurifil Thread – 2370 recommended

• Olfa Rotary and Blades

Edyta’s Tip: Always have a stash of fresh blades for your rotary and remember to change yours often for the cleanest cuts.

Block 2A Block 2B

Block 2

We will be making 8 total Block 2s.

4 Block 2As and 4 Block 2Bs

Cutting Directions:

Begin by cutting strips from 6 fabrics (light, medium, and dark)

6" Finished Block

• 6 Fabrics - 2 strips each 1½" x WOF

9" Finished Block

• 6 Fabrics - 2 strips each 2" x WOF

To make it a little easier to work with the strips, I like them shorter,

so I cut my strips in half on the fold to approximately 21" long.

ree

Arrange your strips in color order from dark to light.

Block Assembly

ree

Place your fabric strips right sides together and pin.

ree

Sew into 3 sets of two strips.

Note: Since we are creating a strip panel, it is important to use smaller stitch lengths.

ree

Press open. Push seam allowance in one direction.

This is the perfect time to check your seam allowance. Your strip set of 2 strips should be 2½" width.

If it is not, please adjust your 1/4" seam allowance.

For the 9" finished block, you are sewing 2" strips and your strip set of 2 strips should be 3½" width.

ree

Sew sets of two into a full panel of 6 strips. Your panel should be no smaller than 6½" width.

Repeat steps to make a total of 3 panels 6½" x 21".

For 9" finished block, you will make 4 panels 9½" x 21".

Place your 6½" Creative Grids ruler on your panel, center it up, and cut sixteen 3½" x 6½" rectangles.

If needing, trim top and bottom.

For 9" finished block, you will cut 5" x 9½" rectangles.

Edyta's Note: Notice the white line in the middle of your ruler at 3-1/4" mark. I like to position that line in the right on the middle seam.

Block 2A Block 2B

Arrange 3½" x 6½" rectangles as shown above to create Block 2s.

Please pay attention to the rotation of dark fabric. It is different for Block 2A and Block 2B.

You will create 4 Block 2As and 4 Block 2Bs.

Sew rectangles together. Trim to 6½" x 6½".

9" finished block: Trim to 9½" x 9½" squares.

Press seam allowances open.

ree

Repeat steps for a total of 4 Block 2As and 4 Block 2Bs.

ree

Our Block 2As and Block 2Bs will be positioned as shown above in our Summer Mystery Quilt 2022 grid.

INSPIRING COLOR OPTIONS

ree

(For this color option, I have created 2 different panels, each 6½" x 21" to give an additional variety of fun colors)

I have the best surprise for you - a Summer Mystery Quilt!

Just like I promised, we are having a second mystery quilt this year.

This quilt will be fun, simple, and surprising - a great skill builder.

ree

Fill your sunny days with a little mystery and come have FUN quilting with me!

This Mystery Quilt will be a weekly event - June 1st to July 29th.

Quilting clues and recipes will be posted every Wednesday

for the blocks on our Blog and YouTube Channel.

Make sure you check in and SIGN UP for our newsletter to start your journey, with us as your guide.

ree

This project is perfect for ANY level quilter, beginner to advanced!

For piecing, we will be using a sewing machine and Aurifil Thread, 2370.

We will be making 9 block designs, each block repeating multiple times.

Don’t worry, we will share this information with you as we go one step at a time.

ree

Another sweet surprise, this time we will have TWO quilt sizes to choose from!

Yes, you heard that right, you can choose the smaller or larger option.

I will provide the cutting directions for both sizes, either

the perfect couch quilt -or- an ideal bed quilt.

Quilt Info: • Blocks are 6½" -or- 9½" unfinished • Quilt size is 54½" x 54½" -or- 81½" x 81½" • The quilt is 9 blocks by 9 blocks

ree

And the cherry on top,

there will be multiple color options to inspire you!

Fabric Options:

We will be showing the quilt design in a simple, very organized color option using

8 medium/dark fabrics (1 yard each) and 1 light fabric (2 yards).

This simple option will be a template for your fabric choices.

You can choose fabrics from your own stash or we have some options prepared for you:

2. A Summer Bundle (Trail Hike Bundle, Beach Day Bundle, or Lemonade Stand Bundle)

Your light fabrics are included in these Summer Bundles.

3. A Fabric Collection:

• Blue Jay Bundle and Dove Bundle from our Bluebird Collection

• Lady Tulip + 1 yard of your favorite LBQ light fabric

• The Seamstress + 1 yard of your favorite LBQ light fabric

These options will open the door, allowing you to

personalize this project - put your own spin on this summer adventure!

You only need to choose one color option to make this quilt.

Remember the recipe, 8 - 1 yard medium/dark fabrics and 2 yards light fabric(s).

Important Note: If you are planning on doing the larger bed-sized quilt, please double on your fabric.

ree

Supply List: (These notions are just my recommendations)

• Fabrics (I'm sew excited to see what fabric you choose!)

• Olfa Rotary and Blades

Edyta’s Tip: Always have a stash of fresh blades for your rotary and remember to change yours often.

for the cleanest cuts.

• Aurifil Thread – 2370 recommended

• Best Press • Pins, scissors, and fresh Microtex Needles 70/10

Quilt Grid

ree

This is your blank, starting grid (9 x 9 squares).

Please be patient as you complete your Blocks.

We will be sewing them all together at the end of July.

Our summer plans for the 9 weeks of this exciting event:

Each Wednesday (starting June 1st), we will be posting blogs and

YouTube Channel videos with clues and step-by-step instructions for block assembly.

Each blog post will reveal the block to sew, which fabrics you will need and how many total of each block you need to make. But the most exciting part will be the block’s positions in the quilt grid as they progressively fill out each week, slowly revealing the mystery!

ree

Thank you to everyone who will be joining us!

I look forward to quilting away the summer days with you and

cannot wait to share another original Laundry Basket Quilts design with you!

Thank you for your patience, participation, and kindness.

This pattern will only be available through our Blog and YouTube posts during this event.

Each week we will be learning something fun and exciting -

come explore with me!

Happy Quilting!
