Welcome back everyone to our Eldon Quilt Along Part 3!

I hope you've enjoyed this quilt along as much as I have so far, but the best is yet to come!

Assembling your quilt top is half the FUN! And now you have your stars

and log cabins made and you are ready, SEW, go for your next step!

Playing with your fabric placement allows you to create fun illusions.

Notice how the different combinations and groupings of light and dark blocks

can create its own stunning image during a quilt's assembly - thats practically magic!

But unlike magicians,

I love sharing my quilting secrets with you!

Ready to brew up something amazing?

Before we start sewing all units together, we will cut our background diamonds.

For one Star Block Background cut: 8 Diamonds B (Eldon Templates LBQ-0214-T) from light fabric

Select your light background fabric.

Cut using Eldon Template B.

To make one star block, first arrange one star unit and 8 log cabins as shown above.

Keep your templates close for marking sewing points.

Fold star unit in half, right sides together.

Starting with the top point, fold down as shown above.

Line up one log cabin, right sides together.

Mark your sewing points.

Pin each corner, sew, and open.

Repeat for each log cabin.

Pin and sew light diamonds in the same manor as your log cabins.

Press all seam allowances towards the outside of the block.

Arrange your blocks, log cabin setting squares, and background

triangles (cut using pattern directions on page 1) following the quilt layout.

Start by marking sewing points.

Pion and sew from point to point leaving 1/4" opening. Press.

Fantastic job everyone!

I am SEW impressed and would love to see how your Eldon quilts come together -

Welcome back everyone to our Eldon Quilt Along Part 2!

I am SEW excited to be quilting with you all again.

Thank you for coming on this fun adventure with me!

Eldon is the perfect pattern to grow your technical skills.

Join me today and let's build some log cabin blocks!

You can create this quilt from your own stash or enjoy our Eldon Fabric Kit.

If you're just tuning in, please visit our blog

For this project, I chose our Eldon Pattern, Fabric Kit, and Templates. I am also using Aurifil Thread 2370, Rotary, Rotating Cutting Matting, Seam Press, and a Ruler.

Log Cabins

For each Eldon Block cut we'll need 8 Log Cabin blocks.

Select your fabrics, you will need light, medium, and dark.

Cut strips and center squares per directions in the Eldon pattern

Arrange your pieces.

Start by sewing light rectangle to dark center square.

Add 1 more light strip and 2 medium strips.

Add next round of light and dark strips.

Finish by adding the last round of strips and press.

Trim using Eldon Template A and rotary cutter.

Repeat to make 8 log cabin blocks for each Eldon star block.

For the whole quilt, you will need 128 background log cabins for all your stars!

For this Eldon quilt, we will also need additional

Log Cabin blocks that will be sewn into units as shown below for setting squares.

You will make 36 log cabin blocks for a total of 9 setting squares.

Each setting square needs 4 log cabin blocks.

Take your time and enjoy making these cute log cabins.

This is one of my favorite parts of this quilt!

Happy Quilting!

Center Eight Point Stars

For one Star Block cut: 8 Diamonds B (Eldon Templates LBQ-0214-T)

Select 4 fabrics.

Cut into strips.

Arrange your strips into a 4-strip panel.

Sew and press with iron.

Cut into diamonds using Template B from Eldon Templates.

You will trim all sides as needed.

Arrange your diamonds into sets of 2.

Mark 1/4" seam allowance where you will stop and backstitch.

Sew sets of 2 leaving 1/4" opening.

Push open and press with your pressing tool.

Edyta's Tip: I don't use an iron to press during my Eight Point Star assembly.

I wait until my star is complete with background.

Arrange and sew two sets together to create a half star.

Sew 2 star halves together.

Now your center star is finished! Great job!

You will need one for each block, 16 for the whole quilt.

I can't wait to see you again for our next step in this quilt along.

We will be making little log cabin blocks for our eight point star background.

See you Wednesday!

Happy Quilting!
