Welcome to Block 1 of our Mystery Quilt 2022!

We’re so glad you took the time to quilt with us!

Let’s dive right into our first block!

ree

Below is all the information you need to prepare before joining

For Block 1, you will need:

• 1 light fabric

Block 1

We will be making 48 total Block 1s.

Fun and easy!

Cutting Directions:

ree

Begin by cutting strips:

• Light Fabric - 4 strips 6½" x WOF

Note: Be precise when cutting this fabric and save all the leftovers. You will need them for future blocks. Since this is a panel fabric, some of your cuts will have more or

less of the crossstich design. I absolutely love this variation in the quilt- it adds a fun, whimsical look

to it.

ree

Align your ruler and cut.

From one strip of light fabric,

you should be able to get 12 pieces.

ree

Flip your ruler over, align it on the

top of the fabric and cut again.

Alternative way of cutting with the Mystery 2022 Template A:

Use your Template A to cut your pieces.

Block Finishing

Edyta's Tip: Keep your ruler or templates handy after cutting.

They are the perfect tool to help you precisely mark your sewing points.

ree

Grab your fabric pencil and mark 1/4" sewing points. You can use your templates in the same way.

48 Block 1s

You have just created your first block, and the first clue of the mystery is revealed:

Blocks don't always have to be square.

Let the fun begin!

Watch our YouTube Channel for this block’s step-by-step

instructions and tips on how to make this project.

ree

Our Block 1s will be positioned as shown above in our Mystery Quilt 2022 grid.

Just a reminder, we will be making 8 identical grid sections like this.

Happy Quilting!

Welcome to our Mystery Quilt 2022!

Life can be restless and stormy sometimes. Find soloace in quilting.

Join us for 14 days of non-stop smooth sailing.

ree

Before we begin, I just wanted to check in with everyone to make sure you're all ready to go!

Gather up the rest of your supplies and make sure you've signed up with our Newsletter

and subscribed the LBQ YouTube Channel!

ree

Here’s a list of everything you will need: (These notions are just my recommendations)

• Olfa Rotary and Blades

Edyta’s Tip: Always have a stash of fresh blades for your rotary and remember to change yours often

for the cleanest cuts.

• Aurifil Thread – 2310 recommended

Edyta’s Tip: I use my 4-1/2″ x 12-1/2″ ruler to first cut the fabric and then use either the

(Choose one, you do not need both)

• Fabric:

Bluebird fat quarter bundle -or- your own fabrics

(You will need 12 fat quarters in blue and 8 fat quarters in light)

Edyta’s Tip: I like to press all my fat quarter ahead of cutting. I use Best Press for a nice, crisp finish!

A-9850-B: 1 yard total light fabric for background.

A-9848-LB: 1 yard total for simple corners to achieve original quilt size -or- 3 yards total if you

want to add a border to your quilt (finished quilt size with border is 70½" x 70½").

A-9845-B: 2/3 yard fabric for binding -or- there will be a few scraps left over from the Bluebird fat

quarter bundle that can be used for a scrappy binding.

ree

I am so looking forward to quilting with you! Please lets be kind, this is a free event, and please remember I am doing my best to provide you with all the information to show you how I made my quilt.

Everyone is welcome to join us, there are no boundaries on this project.

You are the one that has to say "I can do it"!

Let’s breakdown how the 14 days of this event will go:

Each day will begin with an instructional blog post for that Block followed by

the Block’s instructional step-by-step video on our YouTube Channel.

I will provide cutting directions for both the Creative Grids® ALASKA Ruler and Mystery 2022 Templates in the blogs and videos. Please only follow the directions for whichever tool you choose to use.

For the placement of our Blocks, we will be using a quilt grid that will progressively fill with each day, ultimately revealing the Mystery 2022 Quilt! I am SEW excited!

ree

Above is your blank, starting grid. This year, I chose something super special for you guys!

We will be using the above grid for the layout of our Blocks.

We will be making enough Blocks to make 8 identical sections.

At the end of our Mystery, I will show you how to sew your sections

together and add the finishing pieces to this beautiful kaleidoscope quilt.

Please be patient as you complete your Blocks.

ree

Once you are all set and ready to begin your Block for the day, switch over to our YouTube Channel,

and I will walk you through all the sewing, trimming, pressing instructions and so much MORE.

Excited to share this Mystery 2022

quilting experience with you!

Happy Quilting!
