Welcome back and I have a wonderful surprise for you. Simple and big is our block today!

I have a feeling you might even have some time to sit down and relax after this block.

For block 13, you will need: (choose the fabrics shown above from your Super Bloom bundle)

  1. Fat quarter blue big print fabric

  2. Fat quarter light big print fabric

We will be making 8 blocks. The cutting directions are listed below:

  1. 8 blue half-square triangles (HST) cut from 4 squares 6-7/8″

  2. 8 light half-square triangles (HST) cut from 4 squares 6-7/8″

Place light and blue HST right sides together, pin and sew.

Press your HST unit open,

and press your seam allowance open for this block.

Trim block to 6-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ using your Creative Grids 6-1/2″ ruler.

Repeat until you have completed 8 Mystery Quilt Block 13s.

Our thirteenth blocks will be positioned as shown above in our Mystery Quilt! Notice the Block 13 rotation creating a star in our quilt layout.

Welcome to the 12th day of our Mystery Quilt! As you’re making these blocks do you have some favorites? Maybe you’d like to make a few extra to make a cute pillow for your couch to match your new quilt?

I had so much fun making the pillows above for my couch and our “Pillow Talk” book.

But for now let’s focus on the next block so we can finish this project!

For block 12, you will need: (choose the fabrics shown above from your Super Bloom bundle)

  1. 10″ dark blue square

  2. 10″ blue square

  3. 10″ pink square

  4. Fat eighth light fabric

We will be making 4 blocks. The cutting directions are listed below:

  1. 12 – 2″ x 2″ dark blue squares

  2. 8 – 2″ x 2″ blue squares

  3. 4 – 2″ x 2″ pink squares

  4. 8 – 2″ x 2″ light squares

  5. 16 – 2″ x 3-1/2″ light rectangles

Join two 2″ dark blue squares and two 2″ light squares to make 1 four-patch.

Push seam allowance toward dark blue.

Pin, sew, open the seam in the back, and press. For more details, visit our YouTube channel.

Start by sewing two 2″ x 3-1/2″ light rectangles on either side of your four patch unit as shown above.

Arrange 1 dark blue, 2 blue, and 1 pink 2″ squares to two light 2″ x 3-1/2″ rectangles as shown above

Sew into rows using a 1/4″ seam allowance and press your seam allowance toward the rectangles.

Don’t forget to lock your seams and pin!

Sew rows together and press your block. Trim and square your block to 6-1/2″, I love using my 6-1/2″ Creative Grids ruler and OLFA Spinning Mat to trim these blocks.

Repeat until you have completed 4 Mystery Quilt Block 12s.

Our twelfth blocks will be positioned as shown above in our Mystery Quilt! Note position of pink square fabric in quilt layout.

With spring just around the corner I’m already looking forward to April Showers and Rainbows!

I think that’s why “Summer Village” makes me so happy!

Welcome back! I hope you had a relaxing weekend and are ready to jump back into quilting!

Your stack of blocks should really be growing now! I am so proud of everyone. I absolutely love seeing your pictures and the incredible progress you’ve made!

Let’s get to it!

This block has a few extra pieces and it can be easy to get confused. Please follow along and watch the layout of the block!

For block 11, you will need: (choose the fabrics shown above from your Super Bloom bundle)

  1. 12″ light square

  2. 10″ dark blue square

  3. 10″ light square

  4. 10″ light square

  5. Fat eighth dark blue fabric

We will be making 4 blocks. The cutting directions are listed below:

  1. 4 light half-square triangles cut from 2 squares 2-3/8″

  2. 4 dark blue half-square triangles cut from 2 squares 2-3/8″

  3. 16 light half-square triangles cut from 8 squares 2-3/8″

  4. 12 dark blue half-square triangles cut from 6 squares 3-7/8″

  5. 4 light half-square triangles cut from 2 squares 3-7/8″

  6. 4 – 2″ x 2″ dark blue squares

  7. 4 – 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ light squares

It is important to do just one section at a time of this block. Let’s start with the unit shown above.

Start by making a dark blue half square triangle (HST) unit, join one 2-3/8″ light half-square triangle and one 2-3/8″ dark blue half-square triangle as shown above.

Press seam allowance toward the dark blue and trim the HST unit to 2″. I use my Creative Grids 4-1/2″ ruler.

Next sew two light 2-3/8″ HST to the initial unit. Press seams toward light.

Finally add dark blue 3-7/8″ HST as shown above.

Press seam toward dark blue and trim this unit to 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″.

For the next unit, we will begin by arranging the dark 2″ square, two light 2-3/8″ HST, and 1 dark blue 3-7/8″ HST.

Start by sewing the two small light triangles to the dark blue square.

Push seam allowance toward the light triangles, then add the dark blue 3-7/8″ HST as shown above.

Press seam allowance toward dark blue and trim this unit to 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″.

Arrange and sew 1 light 3-7/8″ HST and 1 dark blue 3-7/8″ HST.

Press seam allowance toward the blue and trim to 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″.

Arrange all 3 units and 1 light 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ square as shown above.

Sew to rows, then sew rows together. Press and trim to 6-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ using your Creative Grids 6-1/2″ ruler. If you feel you need additional help, click here to see Block 11 video on our YouTube Channel.

Our eleventh blocks will be positioned as shown above in our Mystery Quilt! Notice the rotation of this block around the quilt.

I can’t wait to show you what’s coming next!

Are you already looking for inspiration for the next project? We’re all in this together and the “Made in USA” quilt might be just perfect.
